Fried Goat Cheese Balls with Wildflower Honey

Chef Jill Holland shares her addictive Fried Goat Cheese Balls drizzled with A Spoon Full of Hope Wildflower Honey for Good.  If you're a cheese lover, this recipe is for you!  The tangy, creamy, cheesy center with the golden crunchy coating are accented by the sweet drizzle of raw and unfiltered local honey. Guaranteed you'll want more than one.  

Fried goat cheese balls are quite versatile and so easy to make. You can serve them as appetizers or hors d'oeuvres at your next cocktail party. They make a delightful pairing with A Spoon Full of Hope Tomato Basil Soup for Good for a light lunch or light dinner. They can even be served as a sweet savory dessert.   

 

FRIED GOAT CHEESE BALLS WITH WILDFLOWER HONEY RECIPE

Yields 14

Ingredients:

Goat Cheese Mix Ingredients

  • 8 oz Goat Cheese
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • Pinch Garlic Powder
  • Pinch Onion Powder
  • Pinch Kosher Salt
  • Pinch Black Ground Pepper

Seasoned Flour Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Black Ground Pepper

Egg Wash Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Black Ground Pepper

Seasoned Breadcrumbs Ingredients

  • 1 Quart Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan
  • Pinch Black Ground Pepper
  • Pinch Dried Thyme

Oil/ fryer

Wildflower Honey for Good


Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined.
  2. Using a ¾ oz scooper, scoop the goat cheese mix onto a pan lined with parchment paper.
  3. Roll each goat cheese ball to make round.
  4. Freeze for at least 1 hour.
  5. Coat the goat cheese balls in the seasoned flour and shake off excess.
  6. Coat the goat cheese balls with the egg wash.
  7. Coat the goat cheese balls with the seasoned Panko breadcrumbs.
  8. Return to the parchment lined pan and freeze until ready to use (at least 1 hour).
  9. Heat the fryer to 350⁰F.
  10. Carefully place the frozen goat cheese balls into the fryer and cook for about 3-5 minutes until golden crisp.
  11. Remove from the oil and lightly shake off excess fat, place on a paper-lined plate.
  12. Drizzle with Wildflower Honey for Good, garnish with thyme or herb sprigs, and serve immediately.
